The wall is getting higher and higher

Filed under: GFW — Joe @ 4:11 am

Recent, my VPN accounts are offline, and I can’t visit wordpress.com and most of blocked sites, so it makes troubles to me. I tried proxies, but it is too slow and I have no patience. Both Hotspot Shield and itshidden.com’s VPNs are unavailable. Luckily, I find this web proxy which supports HTTP POST, and the speed is fast enough to write blogs. Now, I want to say “The wall must be pushed over”.

Good designs let users do less

Filed under: ideas — Joe @ 6:01 am

Sometimes, I have to do two mouse clicks to do what I want. If you make it one mouse click, that means your design has improved. The ideas to simplify your design, means do less but get more things done. You can try to do as I told if you have never realized how important it is.

If you can use less HTML and CSS to achieve the function or feature, you have just moved out the first step. Next, you need to think if it is simple enough for users to use. And then you have to think if it is easy enough for users who have never used or touched it before. Every improvement you made will make your design better and ease the use of it.

The Black Layout Theme “numb”

Filed under: works — Joe @ 1:38 am

I called it “numb” same as Linkin Park’s song “numb”, because I love the song so much and sometimes I always feel numb. Different levels of the whole black background makes every thing dark and numb, and only the links are white. your eyes will not feel dazzled, but gentle and peace. The simple search input even without a button, the flexible layer that auto fits screens of different resolution ratio, the best browser compatibility that supports Firefox 1.0+, Internet Explorer 5.0+, Opera 8.5+, Safari 2.0+, Chrome 1.0+, etc. , and valid XHTML 1.0 STRICT and CSS. You can remove javascript if you are not going to use tabs,  and it is alright without javascript. It provides three versions: a full features version, a brief version and a plain text version, and also a printable version for print.
